Public School System Learning Garden Program
This School Learning Garden project focuses on building resiliency and sustainability through a deep knowledge of interconnectedness and sense of place. The project is designed to support science, math, social studies and literacy achievement, in both the Marshallese and English languages, for students in Majuro by offering students year-round garden-based learning experiences.
School learning gardens can transform the lives of students and teachers, as well as their community. These gardens allow students to apply values, attitude and ways of thinking that help them to become better problem solvers. This project in Majuro supports teachers to help students to better explore and engage in essential questions around food, water and sustainability of their environment.
